🍃 Tak: More Than Just a Stopover! Check in at "Vanasin Residence" & Discover Must-Visit Foodie Spots! 🚗💨

Whenever we make our way back from Chiang Mai, there is one place we absolutely never skip for a much-needed recharge: Vanasin Residence in Tak province. If you are looking for a clean, safe, and incredibly peaceful getaway that feels like a private vacation home, this is it! It is super budget-friendly, easy to access from the main road, yet tucked away enough to offer complete privacy.

🏡 An Intimate Escape in a Golden Teak Sanctuary

The moment you step onto the property, you are greeted by lush greenery and the soothing sounds of waterfalls and streams winding around the estate. The entire residence is beautifully crafted from natural golden teakwood, creating an instantly warm and cozy atmosphere. With only 9 rooms available (divided into Deluxe rooms and Vanasin Suites), it guarantees an exclusive and tranquil stay.

On this trip, we stayed in a Deluxe Room, and we loved everything about it:

  • The Room: Exceptionally spacious and comfortable. It comes packed with amenities, including a massive, plush bed, a dedicated workspace, a refrigerator, a TV, an electric kettle with a selection of tea and coffee, and—a major plus—an air purifier.

  • The Bathroom: Spotlessly clean and pristine.

  • Our Favorite Spot: The private outdoor balcony! It is the perfect nook to unwind, sip on hot tea or coffee, and just soak in the serene forest vibes right outside your room.

🚗 After a long, exhausting drive, your muscles will thank you for booking a traditional Thai massage at Vana Spa, the property’s on-site wellness sanctuary. The massage beds are set inside a grand glass pavilion, allowing you to completely decompress while looking out at the soothing green canopy. It is pure bliss—don't be surprised if you drift right to sleep!

🍳 Breakfast by the Waterfall: Local Flavors Handpicked for You

Imagine waking up to a breakfast spread served right amidst nature, soundtracked by the gentle rush of nearby waterfalls. The buffet features classic staples like porridge and fried rice, but what truly shines are the local dishes. The team at Vanasin Residence carefully curates the best local recipes for their guests. During our stay, we treated ourselves to:

  • Rich and aromatic Chicken Panang Curry and Green Curry
  • Khai Luk Khoei (Son-in-law eggs) with that perfect sweet, tangy, and savory glaze
  • Freshly made Sunny-side-up Eggs and Omelets
  • Smoky, flavorful Grilled Pork (Moo Ping) with comforting Pork Rice Soup
  • fresh salad bar, seasonal fruits, toast, tea, and coffee. A completely satisfying start to the day!

🍽️ Dinner Destination: "Baan Kiang Nam" – Authentic Local Eats by the Ping River

When evening rolls around, make your way to this spacious, open-air local gem sitting right on the banks of the Ping River. It has a wonderfully chilled-out, casual vibe that feels like having dinner at a close friend’s house—except the food is strictly professional-grade! Here are the absolute must-order dishes:

  • Crispy Northern-Style Larb (Larb Krob): A dry-fried minced meat salad bursting with rich, aromatic northern spices. It is served with shatteringly crisp pork cracklings and fresh vegetables. It’s the ultimate palate-pleaser and impossibly addictive!

  • Spicy Snails and Wild Betel Leaf Curry (Gaeng Kua Hoy Khom): Hands down, the star of the night. The fresh curry paste hits your senses immediately with an incredible aroma. It’s perfectly spicy, rich, and loaded generously with river snails and betel leaves.

  • Crispy Fluffy Snakehead Fish Salad (Yum Pla Chon Foo): The fish is fried to a gorgeous golden-yellow, incredibly airy and crisp without a single hint of oiliness. Drizzled with a vibrant Thai dressing that strikes the perfect balance of sour, salty, and sweet.

  • Stir-fried Chinese Broccoli with Salted Fish (Khana Pla Khem): A simple dish executed to perfection. Crunchy, vibrant green stalks tossed with fragrant salted fish—pair it with hot jasmine rice, and you are in food heaven.

☕ The Ultimate Cafe Obsession in Tak: "Role Play Project"

This cafe is a masterclass in simplicity, comfort, and absolute culinary craftsmanship. We love it so much we swung by three or four times, both on our way up north and on our way back down! Their matcha, coffee, and pastries are flawless.

  • The Wild Yeast Sourdough: A certified paradise for bread lovers. The owner cultivates their own wild yeast and bakes everything from scratch. The aroma when you walk in is intoxicating! We highly recommend the Tuna Mayonnaise Sourdough and the Tuna Pesto Sourdough—the crust is perfectly crispy, and the flavors are spot on.

  • The Shiopan (Salt Bread): You cannot leave without trying this! It has a wonderfully crisp exterior that gives way to an airy, beautifully honeycombed interior dripping with rich, savory butter (seriously, check out our photos!). Aside from the original, the Sweet Potato Shiopan is a revelation—crisp on the outside with a sweet, velvety sweet potato filling on the inside.

  • The Perfect Pair: Wash these treats down with a medium-roast Iced Americano or a rich, whisked Iced Matcha. It is the ultimate afternoon pick-me-way!

📌 Pro-Tip: The cafe is located within the same compound as Kitipong Car Care. If you are cozying up at your hotel and don't want to drive out, they are available on food delivery apps. It tastes just as phenomenal delivered to your door!
