Fireplace Grill Review | thaifoodies.co

Fireplace Grill - Bangkok's venerable, award-winning Steakhouse is THE place to visit if you seek prime steaks, fresh seafood and impeccable service. Established in 1966 this Bangkok institution is a local legend and continues to set a bar for competitive eateries.

The Thaifoodies team recently visited Fireplace Grill and Bar for a weekend dinner. Full disclosure, individually the Thaifoodies team has frequented Fireplace Grill over the years for both personal and business functions and were eager to reacquaint ourselves with the oh so very special steakhouse.

Atmosphere

A classic steakhouse atmosphere pervades Fireplace Grill and Bar. Deep, rich, colors abound - dark woods, cool marble, crisp linens and fine crystal set the tone for an extraordinary gastronomic experience. The roomy main dining area is bathed in gentle, subdued lighting, assuring that your intimate dinners are just that.

A private dining room seating up to 10 is perfect for larger gatherings of friends or business colleagues. The open kitchen is center stage where a dedicated team prepares one mouth-watering dish after the next...

Wine & Cuisine

Upon being seated, we were presented with a lovely glass of Prosecco, light and fresh it awakened our taste buds while we perused the Fireplace Grill's highly select yet enticing menu.

First up a complimentary foie gras pate served with citrus compote that was as beautiful to behold as it was to eat - absolutely exploding with flavor.

Next up a nice Caesar salad, crisp Romaine lettuce, Reggiano shavings, crispy Parma ham, and garlic croutons - light and tasty to get the appetite going.

We opted for two soup selections - Cappuccino of wild mushroom and Lobster bisque, brandy flambe’, chive Chantilly - both were delicious but the wild mushroom soup stole the show. It was a fantastic combination of mushroom and truffle captured in a creamy base - YOU MUST TRY!

Then Escargots la Bourguignonne, French snails in the shell baked with herb butter served with a French garlic baguette - tender and busting with flavor if you haven't tried this delicacy yet you MUST!

We were so enjoying the parade of appetizers we decided to explore further with White asparagus topped with butter poached lobster in an oyster emulsion and AMAZING fresh Tsarskaya oysters from Japan.

No great steakhouse meal would be complete without wine and the lovely Khun Ashley - Fireplace Grill's Sommelier was on hand to recommend three wonderful bottles of wine to accompany our meal on this special night.

Domaine Chandon, Chardonnay, Victoria 2014 from Australia - very light with grapefruit and lime flavours overlaid with stone fruit and white blossom notes. The palate is long and balanced, with a delicate acidity provide nice backbone.

Faustio V. Reserva, Tempranillo, DOCa 2009 from Spain - The nose is balsamic with plenty of notes of smoke, vanilla and a touch of cinnamon, hints of leather and ripe fruit. The palate is medium-bodied, polished and easy to drink

Terazza de los Andes Reserva, Malbec, Mendoza 2013 from Argentina - Currant and berry aromas come with a full dosage of toasty oak. This Malbec has good depth with oaky notes of toast and blackened spice lending a chocolaty essence to berry and plum flavors, while this finishes with an herbal, spicy aftertaste.

The time soon came for our mains - Grilled Tiger prawns fresh and sweet with a scrumptious seafood sauce.

We ordered a delectable combination of sides to accompany our delicious main dishes. We tried the Jacket potato with sour cream and bacon chips. Roasted carrots with feta cheese and basil. Sauteed Spinach, nutmeg, garlic, shallots and Forest mushrooms with garlic butter and thyme.

After all that fantastic food and wine we needed to take a break and clear our palates with a refreshing sherbet!

In an establishment like Fireplace Grill and Bar you expect superior service and we were not disappointed in any way. We know because our intrepid critic Babe but the through the paces with question after question about not only the food but also wine and dessert. A+ team - you exceeded our expectations!
