The Thaifoodies team stopped by Chunky Bangkok - Sukhumvit soi 23 in the Asoke area of Bangkok for a late Sunday lunch recently and we are so very happy that we did. The team has been wanting to try Chunky Bangkok for a while now and this new bistro style eatery did not disappoint!
The interior of Chunky Bangkok is an exercise in simplicity, natural colors, lots of wood, with stylish black and white walls featuring foodie prints. Unpretentious and functional, the space at Chunky Bangkok is warm and instills a sense of relaxation the instant you open the door, or maybe that's the coffee they brew up fresh for you - anyway... Design alone does not a restaurant make and the feeling the Thaifoodies team got was Chunky Bangkok is all about the food - and we were right! It was awesome - I'm getting hungry right now just writing this review onto the FOOD!
We started with a simple Vermicelli Olio (220 baht) properly cooked - thank you - pasta, bacon, chili, garlic and basil. Yummy!
We tried three of the Chunky Bangkok Gourmet burgers on the day - Crispy Chicken Caesar (285 baht), Chunky Beef Burger (370 baht), and the Chunky Pork Burger (300 baht). Every burger at Chunky Bangkok is served with a freshly made Brioche bun - OMG - run, do not walk and try this today they are AMAZING!
You can tell that the owners of Chunky (3 foodies friends) ensure that only the best ingredients are used in their dishes. I've read some reviews that call Chunky pricey but you really do get what you pay for here - great quality, nice portion size, and simply delicious fare.
A prime beef patty, Chunky's secret sauce, Cheddar Cheese, Sauteed Mushrooms, Caramelized Onions, Cream Cheese Paste, Shallots, and Crispy greens served on a homemade brioche bun. Comes with chips!

We also enjoyed Poutine Fries (270 Baht) - a fresh approach to the original these are french fries smothered in gravy and topped with melted cheese - so decadent but so good!
We washed down our repast with a lovely, bubbly and refreshing citrus Vodka concoction called Vodka Lime Soda (330 baht). A really nice drink to beat the heat, served in a cork-stoppered carafe the portion was enough for three people with some to spare.
Our first trip to Chunky Bangkok and we are fans! The Chunky motto is "More Than Just a Burger" we agree and we will be back - and you should visit dear reader as there a few places in Bangkok that serve up such a wonder burger as Chunky Bangkok!
