Bottle Rocket Craft Beer Bar - A Quirky Bar with Serious Beer on Phra Athit Road Bangkok

Bottle Rocket Craft Beer Bar Review |

Phra Athit road in old Bangkok runs along the Chaopraya river and tucked away along this road at 76/1 phra athit road, soi chana songkhram, a stone's throw from the Phra Pinklao Bridge is Bottle Rocket Craft Beer Bar.

This Phra Athit area of Bangkok has a completely different vibe from the steel and glass towers of bustling Sukhumvit road. Proximity to the river and the old-style charm of the neighborhood make this section of the Big Mango very popular with an international backpacker crowd as well as families looking for a more local Thai experience.

Bottle Rocket Craft Beer Bar is the brainchild of Khun Print. Print studied hospitality at university and cut her teeth at the prestigious Siam Kempinski Hotel here in Bangkok before deciding to open her own venue. She has two now, Bottle Rocket Craft Beer Bar and Fat P bakery on Silom road.

Swing open the red door to Bottle Rocket you instantly know that less is more. The small bar seats no more than 20 people comfortably, almost 30 if every seat is taken as was the case during our visit, with a couple chairs out front for smokers.

The decor is minimalistic but quirky and fun. A chalkboard announces specials, beer cans line the counter and walls while a cute line drawing of K Print greets you from the shop-front window. Unadorned beer taps sprout from the rear brick wall of Bottle Rocket in an unpretentious show of function over form. A nice touch that is surely appreciated by those seeking a pure craft beer experience over the glitz of some of Bangkok's flashier establishments.

The food selection at Bottle Rocket is small but very well thought out with a menu that recommends dishes from Easy to Heavy - we tried a bit of both and all were yummy and reasonably priced.

We sampled the snack medley which was a lovely selection of crunchy mini Thai bread sticks, Japanese Edamame, crispy fried pork skin, and thai peanuts served with chilies and spices. Perfect if you want to nosh on a light snack without filling up. We also tried the Thai style Olio, a bit heavier but super tasty, the portion is not so big as to overfill and great to share with friends. The last dish was an amazing Carbonara Pizza served on a roti and topped with egg. Delicious and a must try when you visit Bottle Rocket. Have a look through our slideshow below...

We had a fantastic time at Bottle Rocket and plan to visit again soon. It's a great destination to either start of finish your evening. Be advised that seating is very limited so big groups here can be a challenge and it is recommended that you come early to get a seat.
