The Lounge Review | thaifoodies.co

Many hotels lounges are a place to have a quick drink while waiting for a guest or perhaps a business meeting but The Lounge, a Contemporary Italian Coffee Lounge, at The St Regis Bangkok is a destination unto itself. The St Regis Bangkok is located across from the Royal Sport Club on Rajadamri Road in Bangkok and at the foot f the Rajadamri BTS station a very convenient venue n busy downtown Bangkok.

The Thaifoodies team visited The Lounge at The St Regis Bangkok on a lazy sunday afternoon recently to experience the ambiance, sample a few signature cocktails, to enjoy the bakery counter's goodies and of course sample the cuisine from nearby JoJo restaurant.

With special Guest Khun Pom, an established restaurateur and mixologist, we sampled a variety of signature cocktails including, Somerset Tea, Green Garden Apple Juice, Negroni, Mimosa and Fontana before hitting the bakery counter! The drinks were wonderful and refreshing on a hot Sunday afternoon. In addition to premium Italian coffee The Lounge offers a wide array hot and colds teas, and non-alcohol drinks so there is something for everyone. Click any image below to enlarge:

Properly refreshed after our drinks we dove headfirst into the bakery counter at the lounge where we perused a large selection of sweet and savory treats!

Although the sweets on display grabbed our attention we decided to sample a few more savory treats first with a scrumptious Chicken Pie, Chicken Curry Puff, Egg and Ham Panini and Truffle, Potato, and Parma Ham Pizza

The Lounge Review | Thaifoodies.co

The pie, puff and panini were lovely, clearly freshly made with top ingredients and would have been enough of a meal in and of themselves but intrepid food critic Babe, as usual, has her favorite to highlight and that is the Truffle, Potato, and Parma Ham Pizza from nearby Jojo restaurant. When drinking or dining at The Lounge one may order from the complete Jojo menu.

The pizza was an incredible combination of flavors and smells with the aroma of truffle highlighting the melted cheese and soft cubes of baked potato wonderfully offset by the saltiness of cured parma ham. This is a MUST TRY when dining at either The Lounge or JoJo restaurant!

Temporarily sated, we turned our eyes to the mouth-watering selection of sweets in the bakery counter. Deciding to make the plunge with some rum chocolates, eclairs, cheesecakes and visually stunning macarons!

It is easy to see pictures of desserts that you may have had several times in the past and dismiss them as just cheese cake or just macaroons but the quality of the desserts at The Lounge really takes these common desserts to a new level of luxury. Each individual pastry, confection, and pie has a unique identity that instantly conveys the sense of quality and indeed craftsmanship that makes dining at a 5 Star property like The St Regis Bangkok an experience not just a meal.
