Prung - Amazing Authentic Homestyle Thai Restaurant in Bangkok - You Must Try!

Prung Restaurant Review | thaifoodies.co

Located just north of metropolitan Bangkok in the Prachachuen area is Prung restaurant, home of the best braised pork stew you will find in the kingdom along with a variety of homestyle, hard to find Thai dishes that are definitely worth the effort.

Prung restaurant is actually very well known among locals in Bangkok but perhaps not as popular with visitors to Thailand a due to the off the beaten track location. We are here to tell you that it is most definitely worth a short cab ride to experience some of the best homestyle Thai dishes we have ever had!

Check out our video review of Prung below:

A cozy, open space, suitable for big and small groups with a play area for your little ones makes Prung an excellent choice for a quiet family lunch or dinner. Owners Khun Poe and Khun Noo Lek are often on hand to greet you. If you don't speak Thai no worries as both Khun Poe and Khun Noo Lek speak English extremely well.

Of course intrepid food critic Babe already knew about the yummy cuisine at Prung but as usual it was my first visit.

We started with the famous Braised Pork Stew, the signature dish at Prung - served with steamed buns instead of rice, but you may of course order rice if you wish! The pork stew is a rich combination of tender pork stewed for at least a full day in a savory broth that when spooned over the soft steamed buns becomes absolute magic. YOU MUST TRY THIS DISH

Next up was a lovely combination of Fried Tofu and a light Thai salad of flat rice noodles, greens, pork, chicken and fresh prawn. The tofu was cooked perfectly and served with a sweet dipping sauce. The salad was a light dish but satisfying on the palate with the fresh prawn flavor balancing the chicken and pork. A healthy choice but very tasty!

Owner Noo Lek next brought us a dish she created herself - Crispy Pork Skin Fried Rice with Broth. This is a deceptively simple dish but that is bursting with flavor. I've never had fried rice like this. A very hearty and filling dish that YOU MUST TRY! Simply Delicious

Our last entree of the night was a creamy Crab and Fish Curry served with Thai noodles. This is not a spicy dish but instead is more akin to a mild yellow curry that enhances the wonderful crab meat and fish mince that pervades the dish. Incredible!

We finished our meal with a creamy traditional Thai dessert of Taro balls served in warm coconut milk! The taro is so tender it melts in your mouth and the sweet coconut milk is the perfect creamy finish to a wonderfully satisfying meal at Prung!

A big thank you to K Poe and Khun Noo Lek for making us feel so welcome at Prung and for of course serving up such wonderful Thai goodness! The prices at Prung are very reasonable - dishes start at only 100 baht and average about only 250 baht each - an amazing bargain for such scrumptions and satisfying fare!
