Sala Thai restaurant at the Novotel Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel offers some of the best and genuinely authentic Thai food visitors can expect in the kingdom and it is only a 5 minute walk from the airport. Whether you are just arriving or leaving don't miss your chance to enjoy!
It is wonderful when we discover a great new restaurant and that is most definitely the case in Sala Thai. I will admit that I did not have high hopes for an airport restaurant but I am here to tell you that I was completely WRONG! The Thaifoodies team had an incredible meal at Sala Thai enjoying very authentic and delicious Thai cuisine.
The lobby of the Novotel Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel is a magnificent 5 story affair that although huge is still dwarfed by the massive airport located just a quick 5 minute walk directly behind the Novotel.
Sala Thai is situated in the lobby of the Novotel Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel and offers an almost open air dining environment that both allows an intimate dining experience whilst people watching in the massive Novotel lobby. The tables are for smaller groups of 2 - 4 but Sala Thai can accommodate larger groups easily upon request.
Intrepid food critic Babe selected dishes from the extensive Sala Thai menu that would provide a good representation of both the quality and authenticity of the Thai dishes served.
We started out with a yummy roasted Pork Rib with young coconut curry. Just a hint of spice, creamy curry and tender pork.
Deep Fried 2-flavor Tilapia Fish was next and it was so delicious! I loved this dish! My favorite was the X.O. sauce. A must try!
Fried Thai River Prawns with garlic was our next dish. The prawn was tender and marinated in soy sauce with just a hint of garlic. WE LOVED IT
We had a very popular Issan dish next in Lab Moo which is a spicy ground pork Salad. This is a light dish with great lemongrass flavour and just a little spiciness. If you like your Larb Moo very spicy just tell your server and they will make it as hot as you like!
A favorite Thai street food was served up next - Stir fried rice noodles with Pork and Prawn. A simple dish by reputation but made gloriously by the chef at Sala Thai - very good!
Red Pork Curry was up next. This is a very popular dish from the south of Thailand. Creamy curry, sweet coconut milk and tender pork.
Our last dish was a favourite the world over Stir-fried minced pork with basil. Wonderful preparation of one of the most popular dishes in Thailand, not oily and just a tad spicy - A Must Try! A shout out to the wonderful service team at Sala Thai - service was impeccable and always with a warm Thai Smile - great job team Sala Thai.
We absolutely loved the food and wanted to meet the Chef behind the wonderful cuisine that we enjoyed so thoroughly. Talking with Chef Bungorn it was clear that she is passionate about given her guests the best possible AUTHENTIC Thai dishes when they visit Sala Thai. A huge thank you to Chef Bugorn and Khun Golf for giving us an INCREDIBLE Thai experience!
This was an occasion that I was happy to have my assumptions shattered. Sala Thai at the Novotel Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel is an absolute gem and if you find yourself in the vicinity you MUST stop by and sample the cuisine - You'll thank us!
