Grotto Restaurant Champagne and Wine Bar at Grand Four Wings Convention Hotel Bangkok
For this review we strayed a bit far afield from our usual haunts in the downtown Bangkok area to the Srinakarin area of the Big Mango to visit the Grand Four Wings Convention Hotel Bangkok to sample Grotto Restaurant Champagne and Wine Bar.
Nestled in the basement of the Grand Four Wings is Grotto, a chic space filled with war, inviting, wood and red brick that tempts guests to settle in for an intimate dining affair with fine wines and champagnes. A perfect destination for a friendly get together or an intimate evening out with your special someone. Grotto is upscale dining in a 5 star atmosphere.

On to the food!
Impressed as we were with the ambiance we wanted to know how the cuisine stacks up at Grotto so we dived right in!
Our first dish of the evening was a Cream of Wild Mushroom Soup. This was exceptional! A Must Try. A creamy base featuring a variety of mushrooms all tied together by a fragrant and scrumptious truffle flavor. Do NOT miss this one it is wonderful!
After our incredible Wild Mushroom Soup we were delivered a yummy Caesar Salad with Poached Egg. Grotto does a good job here with a salad that features crisp lettuce, lots of parmesan and a subtle dressing that ties the dish together instead of overpowering it.
Soup and salad - Check! Now on to the entree and OH BOY did Grotto deliver with what was next! A Pan Seared Sea Bass with Wild Mushroom Bacon Ragout and Truffle Oil. Stop the presses ladies and gentlemen - this is an incredible dish! The whole Thaifoodies team confirms that this was the BEST sea bass dish we have had in recent memory. The combination of an exceptionally fresh piece of quality seabass, cooked perfectly and served in a flavor overload of mushroom, bacon and Truffle - put a fork in me I'M DONE! This is a MUST TRY!
After that life-changing sea bass we were concerned that the next dish would be a let down but Grotto was on a roll serving up a Triple Rack of lamb with Herb Sauce. While different from the sea bass it nonetheless is equal when it come to flavor and appeal. We loved the creamy mashed potatoes too! The lamb was cooked wonderfully, a enticing balance of herbs and prime lamb cuts. So flavorful we didn't feel the need to dip in the mint jelly! Another must try!
Before dessert, Grotto wanted us to try one of the signature dishes of the house. The Luxury Homemade Cheeseburger. This is more of a lunch dish but we can confirm that the same quality that went into all the other dishes we sampled goes into the Burger. Minced beef, fried egg, thick slices of cheese, crisp lettuce and tomato on a brioche bun. Heaven! I don't think I could finish it in one go if it was the only dish I ordered!
We celebrated the end of this joyous meal with a Creme Brulee topped with fresh Strawberries, Blueberries, and Raspberries. I love creme brulee normally but the blueberries on top of this particular dessert were perfect making it all the more special. A must try!

Grotto Restaurant Champagne and Wine bar is a DESTINATION not to be missed. The space is warm and inviting. The service elegant and sophisticated. The food - Incredible!
