Alex Brasserie - A Relaxing Escape with Great Food in Busy Sukhumvit Soi 11, Bangkok
Located on the ground floor of The Mecure Hotel in Sukhumvit soi 11 is Alex Brasserie - A relaxed spot to sample some very good food and spirits at reasonable prices. Our visit to Alex Brasserie was a nice discovery as neither Babe nor I had visited this restaurant before.
Alex Brasserie is a wonderful spot for casual and family dining where you can enjoy high quality fare at very reasonable prices. Featuring and outside deck where one can watch the humanity of Soi 11 flow by or the large indoor air conditioned dining room featuring a prominent bar with plenty of seating. The atmosphere here is laid-back and the staff very friendly and helpful. The menu is large and features both continental cuisine and Thai favorites.

Set in 570 sq m of space with an intriguing industrial loft style decor, Alex Brasserie brings together the best components of a restaurant, a bar and a lounge with a delightfully creative chef de cuisine, a well experienced bartender and a talented retinue of professional musicians.
The design is inspired by an art-de-vivre, features indoor and outdoor seating along with a majestic bar in the center offering panoramic views of the creative surroundings.

We started off with a couple appetizers. Babe of course had to go for the Fin De Claire Oysters and I decided to sample the Tempura Shrimp pop. According to Babe the oysters were fresh and delicious and I enjoyed the shrimp pops with three dipping sauces provided.
A yummy Thai dish was next – a lovely Pan Fried Pork Steak with red curry. Alex Brasserie did a good job here keeping this dish authentic. The pork was tender and the curry bursting with traditional Thai flavor.
One of my favorite and simple dishes was served up next a homemade Pork Sausage with mashed potatoes. Not a complicated dish by any stretch but satisfying in the extreme.. The sausage is tasty and the mashed potatoes super-creamy. Simple and very, very good. A must try!
Our last dish of the day was a huge Charcuterie and Cheese Board. If you haven’t watched our video review yet I encourage you to do so as our reaction to this lovely mix of fine cheeses and cold cuts perfectly explains just how good it is. We LOVED the terrine, the Parma ham and cheese. A MUST TRY!
The wine selection at Alex Brasserie is compact but well represented with prices suitable for all.
