Cafe Claire at Oriental Residence - Parisian Style Cafe Dining in Bangkok
Located on the ground floor of the posh Oriental Residence is Cafe Claire a stylish Parisian cafe serving up authentic French cuisine on Wireless road in Bangkok.
We haven't had the opportunity to review very many French restaurants in Bangkok to date so our invitation to Cafe Claire was long overdue and met with smiles and hungry tummies.
The ambiance at Cafe Claire is relaxed and comfortable. Widely spaced tables and cozy booths encourage patrons to settle in and engage in long conversations with friends whilst sipping a glass of wine or a cup of roasted French coffee - noshing on yummy French eats. Cafe Claire is a perfect destination for small groups and intimate dinners.

We started our evening with a light appetizer of Salmon Tartare served with raspberry sauce, crunchy toast and a salad topped with balsamic dressing. The salmon was very fresh and tasty. A wonderfully healthy start to our lovely meal.
Our next dish is a signature special at Cafe Claire. A Lobster and Oyster Set featuring a whole Maine Lobster and six Fin De Claire No. 2 Oysters. The set is available from 17:30 daily for only 1,200 Baht ++ for food only and 1,800 Baht ++ for food and 2 glasses of sparkling wine.
This special is an incredible value and the quality is amazing. We asked for our lobster to be prepared Thermidor style and were impressed with the creamy sauce, and fresh lobster accented with green pepper - this is a MUST TRY! Babe, being the Oyster aficionado, was well pleased with the fresh, large, Fine De Claire No. 2 Oysters - if she gives her approval then you know these are quality oysters! Be sure to enjoy this special dish when you visit Cafe Claire.
A snowfish, Poisson De Neige followed - this sophisticated dish is at once delicate and satisfying with fish that breaks easily under your fork. An excellent choice for fish lovers and an absolute must try.
A classic French fish followed - Duck Confit. Served with a lovely gravy, baby carrots, asparagus, and roasted potato. The duck is tender with crispy skin, prepared wonderfully. The fresh vegetables accent this simple yet satisfying dish.
Our last dish of the evening was a prime cut of sirloin served with deep fried, almond wrapped, mashed potatoes. Beautiful, simple and delicious.... The beef is tender and flavorful. A hearty dish sufficient for the most ravenous diner.
Cafe Claire is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have lovely afternoon tea service as well. We will review the tea service in another post coming soon.
We recommend you do come and try Cafe Claire for dinner. The atmosphere is refined and gives you a sublime European cafe experience while never having to leave Bangkok. Be sure to try the Snowfish, and The Lobster and Oyster special - You'll thank us!
