Buranee Bar & Bistro – Riverside Thai Dining in Old Bangkok
Buranee Bar and Bistro is a hidden gem located on the banks of the Chao Phraya River on historic Phra Arthit road offering tasty, inexpensive Thai cuisine and relaxing vistas. Buranee Bar and Bistro is in the Phra Nakhorn area of Bangkok only a stone’s throw away from popular attractions like The Grand Palace, The Phra Chan Ferry, Suan Luang Park and the ever popular Khao San Road Night Market.
The entrance to Buranee Bar and Bistro from Phra Arthit Road is a small alley that serves as public access for a boat landing a few meters past the rear deck of the restaurant. There is large signage on the road so you need not feat missing it.
Buranee Bar and Bistro is a compact establishment with a modest bar and seating for perhaps 80 people in comfort. We suggest that you try out the rear deck to best enjoy the river views. Buranee lacks the pretense of some newer restaurants in Bangkok and instead focuses on delivering quality food at very affordable prices all served up with that unique flavor of Thai hospitality.

The Thaifoodies team spent a sunny Saturday afternoon at Buranee sampling some of the fine food and drink of offer.
We started out with an unusual dish – Deep Fried Butterfly Pea Flower Salad served with a dipping sauce featuring fresh prawns. Yummy!
Next was a whole Deep Fried Tilapia which was seasoned with 5 different Thai spices. I think this was our favorite of the entire meal and a MUST TRY!
A hearty favorite of mine followed – Pork Massaman Curry. This curry is mild and a bit sweet for those who perhaps don’t like to overload their spicy levels. Rich and satisfying – almost a meal unto itself.
Buranee offers a wide variety of beers, wines, and spirits along with soft drinks. A great choice for a couples, families and even large groups. The staff at Buranee from the maneer to the servers are incredibly friendly and do their utmost to make your visit amazing – Well done team Buranee!
Thaifoodies suggests that you visit Buranee later in the afternoon, around 16:00 – 17:00 to have the place almost to yourself. Hit the rear deck with a cold drink and watch the world cruise by. A very chill and relaxing spot. Make sure you check our Buranee Bar and Bistro – You’ll thank us!
