Riva Arun Bangkok Review - Thaifoodies

Riva Arun Bangkok offers the absolute best view of the ancient temple Wat Arun on the banks of the Chao Phraya River. Above Riva rooftop restaurant is the best spot to enjoy authentic Thai cuisine whilst soaking in the sublime and unique atmosphere.

Riva Arun Bangkok Review - Thaifoodies

The river communities of Bangkok offer visitors a glimpse of what Bangkok was like hundreds of years ago and that feeling is manifested well at Above Riva where one can enjoy cooling river breezes while watch the sun go down and the lights of beautiful Wat Arun come to life.

Watch our video review of Above Riva Bangkok:

We visited Above Riva on a breezy evening as the sun began its dip towards the horizon and immediately knew that this experience would be special. Wat Arun sitting almost directly across the Chao Phraya River a ancient and breathtaking monument is something that everyone who visits Thailand must see.

We started off our evening with a few signature cocktails from Above Riva – the Sweet Lagoon, Riva Passion, and Arun Mojito. All three were the perfect way to cool off on a warm evening while waiting for our food. All drinks were (255 Baht++) each.

Per usual we let Babe make our dining selections. Above Riva features a compact Thai fusion menu that we found to be at once loyal to traditional Thai flavors and exciting in regards to the embrace of international cuisine. We decided to sample Above Riva’s Fettuccini Tom Yum Goong that which included a huge Thai River Prawn (580 Baht ++), Tamarind Lamb (850 Baht ++) a two prime lamb chops smothered in a sweet tamarind sauce, and finally Moo Yang Bai Cha Phu (280 Baht ++) which is grilled pork wrapped in Thai herbs – our favorite and a must try.

We were lucky during our review to meet a lovely couple from Michigan in the U.S. Christin and Brice who were just wrapping up their first trip to Thailand!

Above Riva at Riva Arun Bangkok is a special place with stunning views of the Chao Phraya and especially Wat Arun. A must for your to do list when visiting Bangkok – be sure to check it out – you’ll thank us!
