Vertigo and Moon Bar - Rooftop at Banyan Tree Bangkok Review

Vertigo & Moon Bar - Rooftop at Banyan Tree Bangkok Review

The Thaifoodies team recently returned to one of our favorite rooftop haunts in Bangkok for 5 star dining and drinks in the clouds at Vertigo and Moon Bar on the 64th floor of Banyan Tree Bangkok

The team headed down to Sathorn Road for our dinner reservation at Vertigo which opens at 18:00 but if you are feeling thirsty before you dinner reservation fear not as Vertigo Moon Bar opens at 17:00! We braved cloudy weather that verged on rain for most our the evening and our perseverance was rewarded with a cool and breezy repast amid the twinkling lights of Bangkok.

We started our epicurean journey at Vertigo with a complimentary (and yummy) Amuse Bouche of crab stick salad to whet out appetites before moving on to our starter of King Prawn and Smoked Pacific Halibut 1,150 Baht ($35.93) - while not something one would order everyday this dish was an delicate creation that perfectly captured the essence of the two fresh seafood elements on our plates - what a wonderful way to start our meal!

Next up the Chef served us a new dosh at Vertigo - a Royal Caribbean Bisque 990 Baht ($30.93). decadent twist on a traditional lobster bisque this creamy take on the popular bisque contained a scrumptious and oh-so-fresh piece of lobster tail meat and caviar! If you love lobster bisque this is a must try!

Our entrees were served next - Babe and I went for a surf and turn theme here with my selection of an Australian tenderloin severed with roasted garlic and pepper sauce at 3,100 Baht ($96.63) and Babe choosing King Prawn and Blue Simmer Crab, Chorizo Linguine 2,100 Baht ($65.62). Our tenderloin was incredible and grilled to perfection - one of the best steaks we have had in a long time! The prawn and crab pasta was our favorite of the night though with such an interesting combination of flavors - I never thought about Chorizo and grilled river prawn going together so well in a pasta dish but it works! Our MUST TRY!
