Boutique Hotel in the Heart of Bangkok’s Historic Chinatown

Boutique Hotel in the Heart of Bangkok’s Historic Chinatown: A Journey Back in Time with a Touch of Luxury. The 2499 Heritage Hotel Chinatown by Room Quest offers an enchanting escape to the heart of Bangkok's historic Chinatown. It effortlessly combines the charm of antique Chinese atmosphere with luxurious contemporary interior design.

Situated in the Odean Circle, at the top of Yaowarat Road and across from Wat Traimit at the Charoen Krung Road junction, this hotel offers easy access to nearby attractions. It's also conveniently linked to the Chinatown and Thai-Chinese friendship gateways. You can explore the vibrant neighborhood on foot, savoring delicious cuisine and visiting popular temples like Wat Mangkon Kamalawat, Wat Traimit, and Wat Pho.

We chose the Deluxe room, which featured a comfortable Queen bed and an in-room bathtub. The separate bathroom came equipped with shampoo and shower gel for our convenience.

Yaowarat is renowned among food enthusiasts, with its numerous restaurants and street stalls serving a wide array of Chinese and Thai dishes. Dim sum, roasted duck, seafood, and noodles are among the crowd favorites. The road truly comes alive at night, attracting both Thai and foreign tourists seeking culinary delights.

During our stay, we highly recommend making a reservation at the renowned "Restaurant POTONG," an exceptional Thai-Chinese fine dining establishment in Yaowarat. Chef Pam (Pichaya Utharntharm) has created a culinary masterpiece inspired by her family's traditional Chinese herbal medicine background. Housed in a beautifully restored 19th-century building, the restaurant blends traditional Chinese elements with modern decor.

Chef Pam's dishes are a fusion of Thai and Chinese flavors, emphasizing fresh, seasonal ingredients. The tasting menu, consisting of 20 courses, is a journey through Thai-Chinese cuisine, highlighting the five elements of Chinese cooking: salt, acid, spice, texture, and the Millard reaction. Signature dishes like Roasted Duck truly stand out.

Restaurant POTONG has been awarded a Michelin star and recognized as one of the World's Best New Restaurants in 2022, and recently received the MICHELIN Guide Thailand Opening of the Year Award in 2023. It's a must-visit for anyone seeking an extraordinary Thai-Chinese dining experience.

We opted for the 20+ course Chef's tasting menu, including a welcome glass of wine. The menu featured a range of innovative dishes, perfectly paired with a variety of wines recommended by Khun "Sacha." He expertly matched wines that complemented the flavors and textures of each dish.

Restaurant POTONG offers more than just great food; it provides a meticulously curated sensory experience. With its high-quality, seasonal ingredients, creative presentation, and attentive staff, it leaves a lasting impression from the moment you enter until the moment you depart.

The restaurant boasts a warm and inviting ambiance, characterized by elegant decor and comfortable seating. The staff is knowledgeable about the menu and wine list, ensuring a memorable dining experience.

Our return visit to Restaurant POTONG was just as enchanting as the first. We fell in love with the relaxed atmosphere, exquisite food, and the overall ambiance.

After indulging in a delicious meal, we decided to explore further and found a hidden gem within the POTONG building: the Opium Bar Yaowarat. This bar offers a unique cocktail experience inspired by the area's history of opium dens. The opulent and atmospheric decor, combined with creative cocktails made from high-quality ingredients, made our visit unforgettable.

Opium Bar also offers a selection of small plates and snacks, making it the perfect place to enjoy a special occasion cocktail or simply unwind with friends. Its intimate and atmospheric setting, along with attentive staff, ensures a memorable experience.

Returning to the 2499 Heritage Hotel Chinatown by Room Quest, conveniently located just a 10-minute car ride away, was a breeze. We enjoyed a peaceful night's sleep in the comfort of our room.

For breakfast at the hotel, we were offered a set meal featuring omelet, sausages, toasted bread, and fresh orange juice. The rooftop dining area provided a stunning view of Wat Traimit, making it a perfect start to the day. After breakfast, we recommend taking a short walk to Wat Traimit to pay your respects and make merit.

Wat Traimit Yaowarat Road, also known as the Temple of the Golden Buddha, is a must-visit in Bangkok. Home to the world's largest solid gold Buddha statue, this sacred place is steeped in history and spirituality. Remember to dress respectfully and maintain a quiet and respectful demeanor while visiting.

In conclusion, Yaowarat Road offers a unique blend of Thai-Chinese culture, cuisine, and shopping. Your stay at 2499 Heritage Hotel Chinatown by Room Quest promises affordability and cleanliness. For more information, visit their website: 2499 Heritage Hotel China town by Room Quest.
