Thaifoodies recently visited the Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel & Towers to celebrate its 40th anniversary.

We booked the Ruby Jubilee stay package, which included a room upgrade to a premium deluxe river view room with a complimentary bottle of private label wine daily.

The room was spacious and comfortable, with a stunning view of the Chao Phraya River. The bed was king-size and cozy, and there was a sofa couch and a work desk area. The refrigerator was stocked with free still water, coffee, and tea. The bathroom had a shower/bathtub combination, and all of the toiletries were provided.

After checking in, we were starving, so we headed to the Lobby Lounge for afternoon tea. The tea service was delicious, with a variety of pastries, finger sandwiches, and desserts. We especially enjoyed the whole wheat scones, croissants, and ham and cheese sandwiches. For dessert, we tried the opera cake, fruit tarts, and Éclair.

The afternoon tea is served with piano live music from 2:00pm to 5:00pm every Thursday to Sunday. (Special Priced at THB 488++ per person, the second person pays only THB 40++)

The hotel has a fitness center and swimming pool on the first floor. We spent some time working out and swimming before heading out to dinner.

We also really love cocktails and Sparkling wine at Siam Yacht Club, especially Pete’s Pure Prosécco 2022

A bright, fresh and tangy example of prosecco, with lovely fruit notes of green apple and ripe apricot, with a touch of savoury grassiness.

We slept well that night, and the next morning we had breakfast at Feast. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of food, including Thai dishes, Western dishes, and pastries.

We also took a shuttle boat to ICONSIAM, a shopping mall and entertainment complex located across the river from the hotel. We spent some time shopping and exploring before heading back to the hotel. (Shuttle boat schedule every 30 mins to 2 destinations first is ICON SIAM, second stop is Sathorn pier BTS Skytrain Saphan Taksin station)

Another destination you shouldn't miss is Wat Arun Ratchawararam Ratchawaramahawihan, also known as Wat Arun, a Buddhist temple in the Bangkok Yai district of Bangkok, Thailand. It is situated on Thonburi on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River. The temple derives its name from the Hindu god Aruna, often personified as the radiations of the rising sun.

Don't missed to hang around at River City Bangkok located on the banks of the Chao Phraya River in the bustling Yannawa district. It has been an impressive icon of the city's cultural and economic landscapes since it opened in 1984.

This five-story complex houses an array of specialty stores, world-class art galleries, vintage bookshops, and top-notch restaurants. Thaifoodies really enjoyed the art exhibitions and galleries and view the works of world-renowned artists.

You can just walk to a connecting building from The Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel & Tower. We sure you guys gonna love the art exhibition at River city Bangkok like us!

After our boat tour, we went back to the hotel for dinner. We decided to try Thara Thong, a Thai restaurant that showcases a traditional, hand-carved teakwood pavilion and beautiful dining space. The restaurant offers a wide variety of authentic Thai dishes, as well as Thai cultural performances every Thursday to Sunday from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

We tried Miang kam (betel leaves with red onions, peanut, fresh chili, lime, dried coconut, dried shrimp, and sweet sauce), Massaman beef curry, Roasted duck curry, Pineapple fried rice, Pomelo spicy salad, and Deep-fried sea bass topped with Thai herbs.

The food was delicious, and we especially enjoyed the Miang kam and the deep-fried sea bass. The service was also excellent, and the staff were very knowledgeable about the menu. We would definitely recommend Thara Thong to anyone looking for authentic Thai food in Bangkok. The restaurant is a great way to experience Thai culture and cuisine, and we had a wonderful time.
